Amazon that takes away the creative control of James Bond are fans worried

For the last four years, James Bond fans have hunted any sign that a new Bond movie has been given to the importance after the release of Daniel Craig’s main. The news on Thursday that Amazon reached an agreement with the owners of the rights of Borcoli’s bonds and Michael G. Wilson to take creative control over the franchise means that the longtime wetland is a downtime between the two sides, and the new Bond will surely move forward.

So why do they act as much as Amazon just beat daylight from 007?

Bestseller author Don Winslow wrote on X, “absolutely hearty. End of era.” Critic Filmpeak Griffen Schiller said: “This is probably the worst thing that happens to this franchise … it will be dry.” He predicted the second, “Amazon will scrape the tube here and be as shameless as possible.” Many others wrote: “Rip James Bond.”

The deal seemed particularly surprising because Brokoli had long maintained such a protective grip of the character, following his late father’s steps Albert R. Broccoli. Careful management of the Broccoli family has long been attributed to the lasting attraction of the franchise and its mainly successful evolution over almost eight decades. It was one of the last pieces of beloved IP that did not control the large corporation, the one without the unpleasant TV Spinoff, excessive explanation of prequel or complicated serialization.

The worship and skepticism of fans happen every time the beloved franchise changes. But in this case, their concerns are not without reason.

Amazon, after all, spent nearly $ 300 million by creating its own international British spy drama like a bond in Citadel. The series was launched in 2023 in soft reviews and slight audience results. Amazon thought ambitiously a show as not only a series but also the current franchise, with different Citadel Spin-off shows planned for a variety of countries around the world and characters that would eventually all join, Avengers-style. In other words, Amazon first imagined a global content plan, and then tried to write a TV show to suit that vision, which rarely acts as a convincing storytelling acts.

Other action dramas of study include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Repenikwhich is fine. No shades, just a lot of TV.

Another beloved IP, the company spent hundreds of millions to acquire, like a bond, be Lord of the Rings Prequel. The resulting emission, Rings of powerIt was divided among fans, at the very least, though still popular in terms of numbers.

And there are Amazon’s worrying conflicts with Brokolia and Wilson. As described in detail Wall Street Journal storyBroccoli once described Amazon managers as “Fucking Idiots.” Broccoli was also allegedly pushed by executives who were presented by James Bond as “content”. The report also revealed that Amazon was thinking about TV-O-offs based on MoneyPenny’s character, or perhaps a female Bond series (Brochcoli must have had it when she controversially stated that Bond could be any race, but the character is male-on is basically idealized manhood). TV version Bonda is … what? A more expensive British version of Netflix’s Night agent??

Amazon, quite understandable, gives priority to his main service for streaming video streaming (testify that Streameamer refused to worship the pressure to let go of his restart Road in cinema last year). Which does not mean that the company would not post a bond movie in cinemas – retention of Bond exclusive for Prime video seems very unlikely, although it is not impossible. The bigger point is that Amazon is not a company that seems to be appreciated by the cinema, and does not have a long -standing experience of creating cinema, as the company that is the next Bond film should ideally.

The company, of course, would open its cash registers to spend the dishonorable amount of money on a bond project. But as far as casting is concerned, it seems that few fans believe that a two -day giant for the ship will bring a convincing choice. It is impossible to imagine, for example, Amazon chose Daniel Craig for the first actor trip in 2006 Casino Royale. Craig was not considered a safe choice at the time. He was not well known and he was neglected, which is a blonde, and not Matinee idol handsome. It’s hard to imagine nervous Amazon managers who make a similar selection.

For example: for CitadelAmazon played Richard Madden who came out of the BBC action drama BodyguardWhat on the Internet is fans saying that you should play next James Bond. The studio threw out an apparent and safe choice. Sam’s Sam has already set out the wrong way, asking publicly after the announcement, “Who would you choose as the next relationship?” As if he wanted to get an internet focus group.

One component of Bonda adapted to fans is that the films are all independent-bar, until the franchise has tried a certain degree of serialization in the last couple of films, for which critics and fans have been generally failed. Otherwise, you can enjoy any of the 25 Bond movie without watching any other Bond movie. But it is a sure bet that Amazon will not be pleased with the creation of an independent film every few years. One of the worries that the company will try for some tangled monstrous construction of the world, as Disney with Star Wars did.

This is a quote Clint Eastwood, so he is admitted, imperfect for the story of Bond, but the message is right: “One must know his limitations.” Probably, Amazon’s smartest move could earn your double-0 status is to recognize your limitations: hire a fantastic filmmaker with a convincing vision for Bond, which feels new and also respects the legacy of the character and then gets out of the way, while obliging one movie that will be published in cinemas. Prove that you can make one great movie about bonds, earning that killing license.

It is a strategy that the company will almost certainly refuse in favor of something practical and clumsy. When it comes to Amazon’s ambitions for its “content”, the world is rarely enough.
