Glen Powell sets up erotic thriller ‘Homewreckers’ with Legendary

Legendary came out on top of the competition for Housewreckersan erotic thriller with a sci-fi twist in which Glen Powell starred and produced.

The package includes an unpublished three-chapter story by Neil M. Paik, who will also write the screenplay.

The deal marks the last major acquisition of the year, coming just a day or two before Hollywood closes its doors for the holidays. And it’s a doozy, straight out of Grandpa’s workshop. According to sources, the deal includes a seven-figure outright purchase price for the rights to the story, as well as a seven-figure arrangement for Paik to write the screenplay. Paik would also act as a producer.

Legendary, famous for its own Godzilla x Kong movies as well Enola Holmes franchise, beating out Lionsgate, New Regency, Sony and Warner Bros Housewreckers. The pack hit town last week, with offers starting in the mid-six figures and going up from there. It came down to Legendary and Lionsgate, according to sources.

Details are being kept under wraps, but sources say the tone is from Adrian Lyne, who made the tumultuous thriller 9½ weeks and Fatal attractionand Alex Garland, whose films such as Ex Machina and Civil war enter into modern anxieties.

Paik made a habit of turning his short stories into popular editions. Reawakening, published by Six by Eight Press, has been set up on Amazon as a series with Lena Waithe as executive producer, also after a competing situation, while the other short story, rainbow fish, it was set at Warners.

The deal is a happy Christmas present for Powell, who ends a stellar year by reaffirming his new stardom. Almost exactly a year ago, he became a newly minted star Anyone but youhis comedy with Sydney Sweeney. The film was released on December 22, 2023 and became a sensation at the box office. He followed it up with a romantic comedy thriller Hit Manwho also co-wrote and produced; the film just earned him his first Golden Globe nomination.

TwistersUniversal’s well-regarded update of the 1990s tornado film followed in the summer, grossing more than $370 million worldwide, including more than $267 million domestically. The actor is often cited as one of those who spearheaded a new class of Hollywood stars and renaissance theater.
