Jonathan Majors’ ‘Magazine Dreams’ set for release date after conviction

Dreams magazine has finally secured a release date, nearly two years after the Jonathan Majors-led bodybuilding film was a sensation at the Sundance Film Festival.

Writer-director Elijah Bynum’s film hits theaters on March 21, 2025 from Briarcliff Entertainment. Majors stars amateur bodybuilder Killian Maddox, and the film’s cast includes Haley Bennett, Taylor Paige, Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page and Harriet Sansom Harris.

After a stormy launch at Sundance in January 2023. Dreams magazine he was ready to help catapult the Majors into the awards race. Searchlight acquired the title in a bidding war but was dropped by the company earlier this year after Majors was convicted of assault and harassment following an incident with former partner Grace Jabbari.

The Hollywood Reporter reported in October that Briarcliff had picked up the film. Producers are Jennifer Fox, Dan Gilroy, Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman.

Following his conviction, Marvel dropped Majors as the villain of Kang the Conqueror, as well as Dennis Rodman’s lead role in the Lionsgate film 48 hours in Vegas ahead of production. Majors has yet to book studio work since then, but has been cast in an indie film Without mercy from director Martin Villeneuve.

Founded by Tom Ortenberg, Briarcliff has developed a reputation for tackling controversial projects. In October, the company announced Traineewhich stars Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and grossed $17 million worldwide.

A live Disney feature is also planned for March 21st in theaters Snow White and Warner Bros.’ Crime film by Robert De Niro Alto knights.

In his review of Dreams magazine for THRleading film critic David Rooney praised “the magnificence of Majors’ work, which explores the physical, mental and spiritual anguish of a person caught in the helpless grip of a singular obsession—arguably America’s defining obsession with fame and success—cruelly destined to remain out of reach.”
