Leighton Vander EschParents Divorce After Former Dallas Cowboys Star’s Father Arrested … TMZ Sports has learned.
The court records we obtained show Sandra Vander Esch filed for divorce from Darwin Vander Esch December 2nd … just one day after her accused that he tried to strangle her during an incident at their home in Idaho County.
In the alleged dispute from Dec. 1 — according to court documents — Sandra claimed Darwin wrapped his arms around her neck after an argument at a nearby bar … and “pushed and squeezed her, not allowing her to speak or breathe.”
“This continued for approximately 10-15 seconds until Sandy was available to remove Darwin’s hands from her neck,” the documents state.
Darwin has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges … but a felony plea has yet to be decided.
We have reached out to the lawyers representing both Darwin and Sandra for comment, but have not yet heard back.
Meanwhile, Leighton — who starred for the Cowboys for six seasons before retiring earlier this year — has yet to comment publicly on the matter.
