Mike Monroe’s horror, ‘Brides’, is coming to Neon

Neon has picked up the North American rights to Chloe Okuno’s horror pic Brideswhich will star Maika Monroe, and filming should take place in March 2025.

The project marks the third collaboration between Neon and Monroe after Osgood Perkins Long-legged and the upcoming sequel They followsequel to David Robert Mitchell It follows. Pre-production for Brides is now underway, and Neon plans to release the film in theaters.

Long-legged grossed $75 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing indie film of the year and a high point for Neon, Tom Quinn’s Oscar-winning specialty production and distribution house that is also home to Parasite.

Long-legged saw Nicholas Cage playing an elusive serial killer tracked by FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) who was so transformed for the film that he was almost unrecognizable. Brides will be produced by Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu through Likely Story.

Okuno wrote the original screenplay, which stars Monroe as Sally Bishop as she and her husband travel to a remote Italian villa where the owner, a mysterious count, takes an unusual interest in Sally.

Agreement for Brides negotiated by Jeff Deutchman and Jason Wald for Neon. FilmNation Entertainment launched international sales at AFM in Las Vegas last month. UTA Independent Film Group handles global and domestic rights.

On the other hand, Osgood Perkins is reuniting with Neon, C2 and Black Bear for his next film, an adaptation of Stephen King Monkeystarring Theo James and is slated for a February 2025 release.
