Kim Kardashian earns props from the governor of New Jersey Phil Murphy for her advocacy, which he says played a key role in his decision to free the prisoner Dawn Jackson … after serving 25 years for fatally stabbing a man she claimed had sexually assaulted her.
Governor Murphy, who commuted Jackson’s 30-year sentence by 5 years, thanked Kim for drawing attention to the case … explaining in an X post on Monday that after reviewing the “unimaginable trauma and sexual abuse” Dawn faced, he thought her original sentence was too harsh.
Murphy not only shared the article about Kim’s role in helping Dawn, but also emphasized that Dawn took responsibility for her actions and served her sentence without further incident. He made it clear to her – it’s time for her to get the second chance she truly deserves.
Kim re-shared Governor Murphy’s post on her IG Stories, adding the message… “Thank you Governor Murphy for your compassion. So happy Dawn will be home for the holidays.”
Jackson fatally stabbed her stepfather in ’99, and she said a public defender told her to plead guilty to a charge of first-degree murder. Jackson claimed she was sexually abused since childhood — but her testimony about the sexual abuse was never presented in court.
NJ.com reports Jackson is scheduled to be released from prison this week … and will be under parole supervision until March 2029.
It’s a big win for Dawn … and Kim, who has been pushing for the Dawn edition since 2018 — but this isn’t Kim’s first rodeo. For years, she was on a mission to free the unjustly imprisoned, including the case Alice Marie Johnson.
