“The Tiger King” star. James Garretson was arrested in Florida this week … and claims the arrest may have something to do with his involvement in the Netflix series i Joe Exotic file.
James was arrested Monday night in Marathon … and police in the Florida Keys say he was driving with a suspended license.
According to the arrest report, obtained by TMZ, officers say they saw James driving at the Marathon and recognized him from a previous encounter with police. Officers say they checked his license in a database and saw it was suspended.
Police say they saw James driving again later that evening and pulled him over. Officers say James produced a Florida ID — not a driver’s license — and was asked to get out of his truck before being handcuffed.
Officers say James has a previous conviction for driving with a suspended license and was taken to the Key West Jail for the sentence. Police say James has been charged and is scheduled to go on trial next month.
James, who worked with Joe Exotic the day before he became an FBI informant to help secure Joe’s conviction, tells TMZ … when the cops pulled him over, one of the cops told him, “I know you are. I was watching alone for a while.”
JG says the officer didn’t elaborate on the alleged comment and wasn’t told why he was pulled over or why he was arrested … at least until he got to the jail an hour away in Key West … and he feels there was some motive behind his arrest.
James tells us he thinks the arrest could be related to his association with the ‘Tiger King’ series and all the drama that has come with his appearance on the Netflix hit.
He posed for pictures in prison and says he paid $546.
