Will Smith is shutting down any rumors that he participated in Sean”diddyCombs’ “freak-offs,” gatherings organized by the rap mogul that allegedly involved sexual assaults and sex workers.
The actor, who has recently returned to music, performed a concert in San Diego on Friday and took a moment to distance himself from Combs between songs.
“In the world we’re in now, it’s very difficult for all of you to discern what’s real and what’s true, you know? And I’ve been seeing all of you memes and stuff,” king richard star said in a video posted on TikTok and obtained by TMZ. “Some of that stuff is fun. Some of this is funny, but I haven’t addressed any of this publicly, but I just want to say this very clearly: I have nothing to do with Puffy. So they can stop all those memes.”
He explained that he doesn’t normally address “dumb things” publicly since people are constantly saying things, but he felt the need to with these rumors because “all the memes were doing too much.”
“Listen, I do enough of my own stuff already,” the Oscar winner continued. “Don’t put me in other people’s shit. I haven’t been close to that man, I haven’t done anything stupid. So every time you hear it, if someone says that, it’s a fucking lie. I don’t even like baby oil,” referring to the 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant found when authorities raided Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Florida in March.
Smith’s comments follow Jay-Z accused of raping 13-year-old girl in 2000 in a lawsuit alleging that Combs also participated in the assault, which allegedly took place at a house party after the MTV Video Music Awards.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, wrote in a lengthy statement after the lawsuit: “These allegations are so egregious in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil complaint!! Whoever committed such a crime against a minor should be locked up, don’t you think? “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
One Friday, one NBC News report stated that Carter’s attorney was seeking to dismiss the lawsuit after Jane Doe, who was named in it, had a series of inconsistencies in her accusations.
“Today’s investigative report shows that this ‘lawyer’ (Tony) Buzbee filed a false complaint against me in pursuit of money and fame,” the mogul said in a new statement. “This incident did not occur and yet he presented it to the court and redoubled his bet in the press. True Justice is yet to come. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but soon.”
Combs was charged with racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking when he was arrested on September 16. He asked for bail three times and they have always denied it to me. He is currently being held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center and will remain there until his trial in May.
